A luminous oyster shell, edged in gold and set against a deep, midnight background, conbined with the luminous drama of 

phthalo blue and green in this original acrylic from The Mediterranean Table, part of Luna Burlo's Works on Paper series.

The oyster has graced the Mediterranean table since antiquity. For the ancient Greeks and Romans, it was a delicacy of the highest order and a gift from the sea, prized for its rarity and its beauty as much as its flavour. The pearl within speaks of hidden treasure, of patience, of the extraordinary emerging from the ordinary. On Luna's dark, luminous ground, the oyster becomes something almost sacred.

One of just twelve originals in this collection, painted on 210gsm paper and hand-trimmed to approximately 42 x 54.5cm. A slight variation of up to 0.5cm in height may occur, a natural characteristic of a hand-finished work.

Framing We recommend professional framing to honour this original work. As a cost-effective alternative, a standard 50 x 70cm frame with a 40 x 50cm mat board works beautifully — note that a few centimetres of the painting's top and bottom edges will sit behind the mat, however most works in this series have been composed with this in mind.
