"Honey, oil, olives, cheese, Galletti. a Maltese table set with everything that matters."

A sun-drenched tablescape of honey, olives, olive oil, creamy feta, and Galletti (Malta's beloved traditional crackers) glows against a deep midnight background of phthalo blue and black, each element edged in gold. This is an original acrylic on paper from The Mediterranean Table, part of Luna Burlo's Works on Paper series.

Honey carries a connection to Malta that runs deeper than most realise. The very name Malta is believed to derive from the ancient Greek word meli, meaning honey — a testament to the island's ancient reputation for producing exceptional honey from its indigenous Maltese honeybee. Alongside honey, olives and olive oil have sustained Mediterranean life for thousands of years. The addition of feta and Galletti makes this painting unmistakably, intimately Maltese and Mediterranean. This is a table set not for a special occasion, but for an ordinary afternoon that is a celebration simply because of what is on it.

One of just twelve originals in this collection, painted on 210gsm paper and hand-trimmed to approximately 42 x 54.5cm. A slight variation of up to 0.5cm in height may occur — a natural characteristic of a hand-finished work.

For those who love a statement piece with a story. Rich, luminous, and unmistakably Mediterranean.

Framing We recommend professional framing to honour this original work. As a cost-effective alternative, a standard 50 x 70cm frame with a 40 x 50cm mat board works beautifully — note that a few centimetres of the painting's top and bottom edges will sit behind the mat, however most works in this series have been composed with this in mind.

This painting is part of a coordinating set of four, alongside "Garlic", "Oyster", and "Sardines" Each shares the same deep midnight ground, luminous colour, and gold edging. Collect one or collect them all.
