"Red, yellow, golden. Capsicums catching the afternoon light."
Vibrant capsicums with chilies and garlic tumble against a warm ground of soft magenta, bold pink and textured brushed orange in this original acrylic on paper from The Mediterranean Table, part of Luna Burlo's Works on Paper series.
The capsicum is inseparable from the Mediterranean table, nowhere more so than in Malta, where it anchors Kapunata, the island's beloved cold summer dish of slow-cooked vegetables eaten at room temperature, rich with the flavour of the season. Alongside the chilli (something Luna's father grew and hung to dry in a tradition she carries forward in her own garden) and the ever-present garlic, this painting is a celebration of the bold, generous flavours that define Mediterranean cooking. Vivid, unpretentious, and deeply satisfying.
One of just twelve originals in this collection, painted on 210gsm paper and hand-trimmed to approximately 42 x 54.5cm. A slight variation of up to 0.5cm in height may occur — a natural characteristic of a hand-finished work.
Vibrant and joyful. A painting that brings the energy of a Mediterranean market straight to your wall.
Framing We recommend professional framing to honour this original work. As a cost-effective alternative, a standard 50 x 70cm frame with a 40 x 50cm mat board works beautifully — note that a few centimetres of the painting's top and bottom edges will sit behind the mat, however most works in this series have been composed with this in mind.
This painting is part of a coordinating set of four, alongside "Tomatoes", "Sage", and "Olives". Each shares the same warm magenta and orange ground. Collect one or collect them all.
